A Hide takes ten weeks to make in our workshop in Hexham. This is what happens in each of them.

Weeks one to three: the cross-laminated timber shell is cut and assembled. Weeks four to six: windows, wiring and insulation. Weeks seven to nine: plywood lining, kitchen and bathroom. Week ten: larch cladding, oiling and a final check.

Dry and warm

Building indoors means the timber never gets wet and every joint is cut to the millimetre. It also means our crew go home at five.

“Weather never touches the timber until the house is finished.”
